Making My Way Through

These days I feel,I spend more time in thinking and planning what I should be actually painting,a landscape, still life or some figurative work.Eventually,I end up painting nothing(not a good sign).Hope this habit of mine is just for a short period of time. For this piece, I opened up my stock of reference photos, closed my eyes and randomly picked one. So,here is a painting from the photo that won the lucky draw :)

This work is done in oil and I had extremely tough time getting it photographed. The paint is still wet and may be thats the reason I get shiny and glossy looking photographs each time I click. This is the best I could do with the camera adjustments.

  1. This is a beautiful painting, Yasha. I have a terible time getting good photos of my art, especially the ones in graphite. Sometimes I will spend an hour taking pictures and have maybe one turn out good enough to post, though still not a great representation of the piece.

    Your work is lovely! :o)

    Best wishes,

  2. Lovely landscape, Yasha. The composition makes me want to follow the little stream into the distant woods. I like the rock in the foreground which begins the eyes journey.

  3. Hi Yasha,I love this landscape! I can almost hear the river running through the picture.perfect aerial perspective, and great composition.I agree that knowing what to paint is half the battle.I do find that the more I paint the easier the ideas flow.If I take a break the ideas dry up too. So keeping the momentum going might be the answer. : ))

  11. It was such a pleasure seeing your art work and reading the little stories about their creation. It is so refreshing. Its really difficult to say which of your works i like more. But personally i think u deserve to have an exhibition. I have had the privilege of seeing ur handiwork since school days but i admit you have come a long way since. Hadnt i known better, i would never have believed that u hv had no professional training.

May u exceed ur own expectations of excellence in whatever u do.

    Lots of love
