Let Loose

I returned from my cousin's wedding last week and had great time with family and friends but it was equally tiresome. An Indian wedding is such an elaborate affair with number and customs and rituals to be followed which is exhausting not only for the bride and the groom, but also for the guests attending. So last week was spent in regaining my energy.

I missed almost all the challenges in the month of February, which otherwise I would have definitely given a try. This particular painting was done from a reference photo provided by Lee for the February challenge on his site A Day Not Wasted.I missed the deadline but I loved the photo so,thought of painting it anyway. The reference photo looked too complicated and detailed and was quite intimidating initially, but to my surprise once started,it went on smoothly.Usually I try hard to avoid details(though I always fail),but I loved painting little details on this. Finally, I have this painting to post on my blog, which was almost inactive last month.

Wake Up!

This is a submission for Rookie Painter challenge blog.Initially I was not too sure whether to paint this or not because somewhere in my mind I thought it wouldn't turn up good.Today, being the last day of submission,I thought why not give it a try and so I did. Surprisingly,I really loved painting this.I liked the limited use of colors in this one and the best part was I did not have to put much time into it.

Visit to Albert Hall,Jaipur

This is again a painting done form the photos I clicked while on my trip to Rajasthan. This was our visit to one of the oldest museums of Rajasthan,The Albert Hall.We got to know that it was built in the year 1876 and exhibits some rare collections of ancient stuffs.  As a student, history was one subject that I was never too fond of.I usually had hard time remembering the dates and years. But  visiting these palaces and forts, was altogether a different experience.
I had been avoiding painting any figures for quite sometime, but this was a deliberate attempt. The photo was clicked by me and has my Mom and two cousins .None of them were posing for the camera and this is the main reason why I chose this photo to paint (to avoid any risk of non resemblance):-).I did not want to hear "This is not me" from any of them, so played safe.

Lemony

.
Loved the reference photo provided by Lela Stankovic for the recent challenge at her blog PADT. At PADT your work gets critiqued by fellow artists which is always a good experience as you get to know your weak and strong points.
It was absolutely fun painting these lemons, bright shiny colors. The real challenge I feel was painting the translucent container.I also loved painting the blurred view outside the window and feel it came up well. The only area of concern according to me is the table top.Not really satisfied with it,editing needed but a lazy bug in me asked me to do it later :)
