I have been working on an acrylic painting since two days, but somewhere in the process I got stuck.Things did not work as planned and so,I thought, better leave it for a while and try something else for a change.Thought of picking up a pencil after a long gap.It was absolutely refreshing doing this graphite sketch and now I feel,I can get back to my acrylic work, and hope things work out well this time.
Meanwhile,I read an article "give-yourself-permission-to-fail" by Lori Woodward. This article worked for me as it came at a right time.:)
Excellent sketch! The intense gaze can be seen in his eyes. All your works are awesome! great work.
ReplyDeleteAmazing portrait Yasha!! Such fantastic detail on the folds of material and his eyes do have that intense look. You have captured the soul of this man, which makes you wonder what kind of life he's had and has it been good or has it been incredibly tough. My guess is he's had to struggle. This portrait is so thought provoking and could be the making of a novel if I was a writer!!
ReplyDeleteGreat sketch, Yasha. To fail at something is to continue doing it until a disaster occurs (in my opinion, that is) You did not fail, you were wise enough to take a different path for the time being and no matter which path you take during your life, I believe, they all converve on the destined road at some point.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that stepping away from the acrylic painting was actually rewarding for you. Great job on this graphite drawing . . . very nice!
ReplyDeleteYasha, I like your drawing very much and I agree it's good to set something aside when it's not cooperating! Sometimes I turn a painting around and don't look at it for a few days, or even a week. Often when I turn it back again, I can see where something needs to be changed.

Whoa! Nice nice.
ReplyDeleteI liked how you did the background. The light effects, curves on the face seems to be detailed.
indeed an intense gaze.Looks like a photograph.Very good job Yasha.
ReplyDeleteHappens to me too - but don't always get back to the painting. Your drawing is wonderful, another great skill at which you are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHis gaze is a little intimidating for sure. Nice drawing Yasha.

Wow! It looks so life like.
ReplyDeleteGood work :)
Very nice Yasha! Great details and lights.
ReplyDeleteI had the same impression as Azra, you totally captured his soul. I found myself fantasizing about who he is and what kind of life he may live. Do you know him or is he from a great reference picture found somewhere?
Thank you so much everyone for lovely comments and all the encouragement. It really means a lot and I highly appreciate your feedback.:)
