Let Loose

I returned from my cousin's wedding last week and had great time with family and friends but it was equally tiresome. An Indian wedding is such an elaborate affair with number and customs and rituals to be followed which is exhausting not only for the bride and the groom, but also for the guests attending. So last week was spent in regaining my energy.

I missed almost all the challenges in the month of February, which otherwise I would have definitely given a try. This particular painting was done from a reference photo provided by Lee for the February challenge on his site A Day Not Wasted.I missed the deadline but I loved the photo so,thought of painting it anyway. The reference photo looked too complicated and detailed and was quite intimidating initially, but to my surprise once started,it went on smoothly.Usually I try hard to avoid details(though I always fail),but I loved painting little details on this. Finally, I have this painting to post on my blog, which was almost inactive last month.

  1. Love this ! You have really captured the reflections on the water, the light coming in from end of waterway, the gondola ,in fact the whole scene is brilliantly painted.I have started it and also missed the deadline and now its still waiting to be finished.I am so enjoying the smaller paintings that at the moment the larger ones will have to wait.I'm so glad you enjoyed the wedding,if you took photos they would make great material for future paintings.

  2. I had noticed your absence and hoped it wasn't anything wrong. Now I understand, and I know how an event like a wedding can take over one's time. You should paint some things from the wedding? I bet they would be most interesting. Love what you did with Lee's photo, especially the water. Great reflections & welcome back!

  12. small suggestion for you Yasha- why dont you add the 'you might ike' application? It will be nice to have such an application for the nice paintings that you have got on this page.
