On The Brighter Side

I have had the reference photo for this painting for quite some time now but it never appealed to me as much as it did this time.I was really caught by all the blue and the strong light on the street.I now wonder, why wasn't I interested in painting it earlier. It happens with me very often. Some day I don't find a subject very interesting but the other day I can't resist painting the very same subject.Does that happen with you too or is it only me going through this "Artistic mood swings"?:-)

  1. It is wonderful, Yasha, looks like a cool morning on a quaint cobblestone side street in some small peaceful town.

  2. For me it would be the mood swings, lol! Sometimes I don't feel inspired to draw or paint at all, and days will go by before I'm ready to try again. But sooner or later I always go back to the old brush and pencil. :o)

Your painting is lovely, as always. The cool blues are so soothing to me now, as we are experiencing some very hot and humid weather here. Thanks for sharing! :o)

  3. Artistic "mood swings" as you call them, I think happen to many artists, myself included. Love the blues in this painting. I also like the light and shadows. Great perspective which is sometimes hard to get right. Nice painting.

  4. As I write I am listening to Billie Holiday "On the sunny side of the street." This is a cool, very optimistic painting and would be perfect if you entered it in the DPW challenge with Billie's song.

  5. I agree with the others about "mood swings"; I think it is very common among artists. This is a very nice painting, with a nice calm feel to it.
