Feeling The Wet Sand

Jen posted the reference photo for this painting on Rookie painter and I was so excited to paint this, because I had never painted a beach scene before. As painting figures has always been a challenging task for me,I had to gather a lot of confidence before giving it a try.Usually,I start by making a pencil sketch on the canvas but for this I think I took a little bold step by directly holding a brush.I thoroughly enjoyed painting these figures and I think its good to challenge ourselves at times,as it definitely helps in building up confidence.

  1. Hi Yasha, you did an amazing job with this. I went over to the Rookie painter site and I have to say that your is my favorite interpretation posted so far. I love how you kept the brush strokes loose and did not try to blend too much. It feels very fresh.

  2. Hi Yasha, love this painting! You've painted the sea beautifully, the surf especially looks so real. The skin tones of the figures is perfect and very well shaded. You have a natural talent for figurative work, and should feel confident in doing more. : )
P.s I'm missing the summer even more.
