Open Up
Worked with watercolors after a fairly long time and so thought of painting this small piece, but like always, I loved using them. After finishing this piece I realized that this new year I worked on three paintings and all three of them with different medium.Well,it wasn't intentional but I was happy to do so.Would like to continue that way, as working with a medium after a very long time makes me feel completely new to it.
For this painting I tried using minimum colors and thats three primary colors and a touch of burnt sienna .I am not very satisfied with the way the way I handled the bud.I tried keeping the blurred look but then overdid it.

This is so beautiful, simple and great colors, the bud fades into the background and I feel focused on the great colors and lighting of the open flower.
ReplyDeleteThis flower is so beautiful, Yasha!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty one, Yasha......wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteHi Yasha, there is great definition on the petals, which is always the hardest part. The colours are fantastic and the background just right.I don't think you have to worry about the bud,it looks fantastic too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! The eye is drawn inmmediately to that beautiful flower, Yasha.
ReplyDeleteThe flower is very nice, Yasha
ReplyDeleteThe shading on the petals of the flowers as if light were falling on it, it looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNice painting again.
Cheers,

Thanks everyone for appreciating my attempt.Your words of encouragement really means a lot to me.
ReplyDeleteYasha, the flower and the bud next to each other tell a small story to me and the limited colors have been judiciously used, nice result!
ReplyDeleteLove this one!
ReplyDeleteThe painting is very nice, Yasha..in fact I really like the blurred look!
ReplyDelete@Padmaja Thanks I wasn't very sure of the bud but I am glad you liked it.
ReplyDelete@Carol Thank you so much and I appreciate your visit
@Arti Thanks Arti I highly appreciate your comment.
Just beautiful and the way you handle watercolors is wonderful! I havt not tried that medium in years since I am stuck on oils and acrylics right now. This purple color is just eye catching!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Yasha.
ReplyDeleteNice Yasha.
ReplyDeleteLove the purple colors.
The bud is OK Maybe a little closer to the flower but not a big deal.
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I hope to post the finished piece this morning after working on it yesterday.
God bless,
So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe colors in this are beautiful. Try painting it again if you're not completely satisfied with that bud. I've learned to not limit myself to painting something once. If a painting doesn't quite work for me I chalk it up to practice and try again. You'll only get better.
ReplyDeleteJust happened by your blog...

Very nice. I am impressed with the blurred background and the tiny hairs along the stem of the flower. Your work is very pleasant to the eye. The bud is just a bit hidden by the similar color of the background, but other than that it is good.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone I really appreciate your wonderful comments.
ReplyDeleteYasha, not sure how i missed this painting. only just saw it. Just wanted to let you know that, I do follow all your paintings.
ReplyDeleteComing to this painting, i like it. The flower stands smiling at the bright light. Nice one.
I think you did a beautiful job in capturing the light on this lovely flower. It is fun to switch between mediums--it's play!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. I'm really impressed by how you use different mediums so successfully! great job. :)
