Open Up

Worked with watercolors after a fairly long time and so thought of painting this small piece, but like always, I loved using them. After finishing this piece I realized that this new year I worked on three paintings and all three of  them with different medium.Well,it wasn't intentional but I was happy to do so.Would like to continue that way, as working with a medium after a very long time makes me feel completely new to it.

For this painting I tried using minimum colors and thats three primary colors and a touch of burnt sienna .I am not very satisfied with the way the way I handled the bud.I tried keeping the blurred look but then overdid it.

  1. This is so beautiful, simple and great colors, the bud fades into the background and I feel focused on the great colors and lighting of the open flower.

  4. Hi Yasha, there is great definition on the petals, which is always the hardest part. The colours are fantastic and the background just right.I don't think you have to worry about the bud,it looks fantastic too.

  9. Yasha, the flower and the bud next to each other tell a small story to me and the limited colors have been judiciously used, nice result!

    Love the purple colors.
The bud is OK Maybe a little closer to the flower but not a big deal.
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I hope to post the finished piece this morning after working on it yesterday.

  14. The colors in this are beautiful. Try painting it again if you're not completely satisfied with that bud. I've learned to not limit myself to painting something once. If a painting doesn't quite work for me I chalk it up to practice and try again. You'll only get better.

  16. Very nice. I am impressed with the blurred background and the tiny hairs along the stem of the flower. Your work is very pleasant to the eye. The bud is just a bit hidden by the similar color of the background, but other than that it is good.
